Vendor Management Sourcing Manager/Heavy Contract Negotiation Experience Required!
The Sourcing Manager will work with internal partners at all stages of the supplier sourcing process from communicating needs to contract negotiation to post-contracting relationship review. In so doing, this person will craft tactical and strategic sourcing approaches to ensure the company enjoys attractive quality, costs, and results from its contractual relationships. This person will work with internal business managers; the company’s sourcing organization, and Corporate Counsel to enter into contracts that ensure the company successfully meets all of its business objectives at an appropriate cost. In addition, this person will support efforts to measure, monitor and manage supplier risk and continually document, communicate, and improve their processes.
Position Responsibilities:
Identifying sourcing opportunities by developing strong relationships within the company, instituting processes and systems, and shaping the culture
Addressing strategic sourcing opportunities, including challenging their build vs. buy thinking, rethinking existing approaches and suppliers, ‘right-sizing’ demand, and conducting negotiation efforts
Conducting “triage” on non-strategic sourcing efforts
Assisting in the refinement of their VMO building blocks: spending database, contract database, compliance systems, supplier relationship management, supplier risk tracking
Reviewing and “auditing” all contracts for the firm (except recruiter contracts) and ensure sound business terms
Reviewing and “auditing” all fees and fee structures (except for recruiter contracts) and ensure that the due diligence done by the business user is rationale and that the rates are aligned with current market rates
Documenting current processes and executing against SLAs
Working closely with functional partners (legal, finance) in completing reviews/audits
Identifying and creating incremental improvements to make the VMO vetting process more streamlined
Identifying and creating incremental improvements to educate/empower users to negotiate sounds contracts
Working closely with functional partners to make incremental changes to the process to improve efficiency and/or effectiveness
Participating as a stakeholder in technology initiatives
Interacting with all departments in the firm and providing high quality customer service
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience sourcing a wide range of categories is a must; specific knowledge of software/hardware, market/exchange data, back office operations, consulting services, outsourcing, facilities management, and human resources are all a plus
Experience negotiating a wide variety of commercial terms in complex transactions
Self starter, hard-working individual who has a strong customer service focus
Process oriented, highly organized with a strong attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and process a high volume of work while maintaining the highest quality
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to operate effectively in a cross departmental function
Ability to build relationships and develop internal and external partnerships
Capable of excelling in the company’s culture of meritocracy, transparency, constant improvement, and excellence
Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:
A law degree is a plus, but not required
Familiarity with investment management or “the lifecycle of a trade”
Familiarity with contract database/administration tools
Experience managing contracting on the sales side is a plus
